So what’s the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

As a counsellor, I am dedicated to supporting each client’s needs and wants, empowering them to create positive outcomes. Utilising and identifying  an individual’s goals to  find solutions to problems that cause emotional distress, while enhancing coping strategies to support them in their lifelong journey.

Counselling

Can be a short-term process.

Focusing on a person’s immediate issues, which can be resolved on a more conscious level.

It can be one to three sessions.

Psychotherapy

Digs deeper and can be multiple sessions lasting several months, depending upon the circumstance. Exploring and discovering a person’s psychological history.

The difference between both options can be around your goals and how much time you want to spend on your therapy or how deep you want to go.

Play Therapy

Play therapy is a form of therapy used generally with children aged 3-12 years old.

The goal is to help them express themselves or emotions by gaining an insight into how and why they are feeling the way they do, giving them the skills and confidence to self-regulate their emotions.
